All who come to donate August 1–30 will be entered to win four tickets to the Yard Goats’ September 5 home game

CONNECTICUT – Connecticut Blood Center (CTBC) is teaming up with the Hartford Yard Goats to encourage blood donation during one of the most challenging times of year for the blood supply. From August 1 through August 30, all who come to donate at a CTBC donation location will be automatically entered for a chance to win four tickets to the Hartford Yard Goats’ home game on September 5. One winner will be selected by September 2.

“August is traditionally one of the most challenging times of year for the blood supply, and this summer has been especially difficult as extreme weather has disrupted blood donations across our region,” said Hunter Shaffer, Vice President of Operations at Connecticut Blood Center. ” We’re excited to offer donors the chance to win tickets to a Hartford Yard Goats game while helping remind our community that one blood donation can make a lifesaving difference for patients.”

CTBC recently declared a blood emergency after the regional blood supply fell to its lowest level since the COVID-19 pandemic. The shortage extends well beyond Connecticut, with blood centers across the country now navigating a national blood crisis. CTBC is asking all eligible donors, especially those with type O blood, to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Every donation is essential to ensuring hospitals have the blood they need to treat patients. Blood donors can give every 56 days, and recent FDA eligibility updates also mean more people than ever may now be eligible to donate. To view current eligibility guidelines or make an appointment, donors can call 800.283.8385 or visit ctblood.org.
